Susan Allen Talks Jobs, Economic Growth in Orange County

Orange, VA – Today, Susan Allen brought the Virginia Voices tour to Orange County, meeting with local small business and community leaders for a roundtable hosted by the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
Small business leaders participated in a discussion about how Washington’s policies are affecting them, including harmful regulations, skyrocketing energy prices and the health care tax law that is reducing quality, affordable care for many families.  Susan Allen listened to their ideas and solutions for promoting job creation and economic innovation and shared George's positive pro-jobs record.

“George and I are encouraged by all the hard work and perseverance we see across Virginia from families and small businesses that refuse to lose faith in the American Dream despite this tough economy,” said Susan Allen. “The spirit of entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation are alive, waiting for leaders in Washington to set priorities and stop standing in their way. George believes that job creation should be a priority in Washington. If we elect him to represent us in the U.S. Senate, he will work hard to reduce regulations on small businesses, reform the tax code, promote positive and affordable health care reform and use our American energy resources to make our electricity costs and gas prices more affordable. With George’s positive solutions and his record of results, we’ll create a better future with a healthy economy.”

Following the roundtable, Susan Allen participated in a Main Street Tour of Orange, visiting small business leaders at Faye’s Office Supply, Virginia National Bank, Orange Pharmacy and Melrose Antiques.

“In the past few years, Washington seems to be the biggest challenge that small businesses like mine have to face,” said Deanne Marshall, owner of Marshall Farms. “There are too many business owners who would like to hire but are discouraged by the direction our country is heading. From a business perspective, we’re discouraged from growing and hiring because high electricity and fuel costs, and even higher health insurance premiums, are creating more financial hurdles. I know more small businesses in Orange County can have the opportunity to succeed with George Allen’s record for standing for smaller government, fewer regulations and his positive reforms to make business easier, electricity and gas cheaper and hiring possible once again.”

This evening, Susan Allen will join First Lady Maureen McDonnell and Jean Ann Bolling for the October Harvest event in Midlothian. Afterwards, she will join local residents for the Midlothian Food Festival at Westchester Commons.
